The Stroll Begins!
And They're Off!!
MacKenzie at Summer Stroll for Epilepsy
The Summer Stroll for Epilepsy is a two-1/2 mile walk that raises money for Public Education and Awareness, Living
Well Programs, Advocacy, Education and Consultation and Mobility programs for the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan. Epilepsy affects
twice the number of people with cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy combined. The Epilepsy
Foundation is the only organization in the state of Michigan to provide programs and services for individuals with epilepsy.
We made the commitment to walk with a group of family and friends for the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan's Summer Stroll,
June 1st, 2002 in Detroit at the Detroit Zoo.
Our effort in Summer Stroll paled in comparison to the efforts of many in fighting the stigmas and hurdles to be
overcome with epilspy/seizure disorders. We appreciate everyone that contributed and supported us for this walk!

We knew ahead of time that we were going to be (hopefully!) meeting up with some friends of ours from the Epilepsy Foundation's
eCommunities forums! http://www.efa.org/ecommunities/
Thankfully, we were able to find each other and had a wonderful time with Linda, aka "lg", Maura, and her friend
Rusty. Maura wasn't feeling 100% that day, but was able to complete the Stroll with us regardless. Maura had a left TLE back
in January of this year.... honestly, I would NEVER know! We spent some quality time under the shade trees chatting. Linda
drove in all the way from New York for the Stroll (oh, and a vacation!) and she got to wrangle MacKenzie at the zoo's playground!
We also were able to spend a short while with "Nancy C" from the forums! It was so great getting to finally meet our friends
face to face.
